Schuyler Beecroft (2009)

Senior attackman Schuyler Beecroft from Norfolk Academy, has been named the D.A. Taylor Award winner for the 2009 season. The D.A. Taylor Award is given annually to the best male high school aged lacrosse player in Southeast Virginia.

Beecroft led Norfolk Academy to a 17-5 record this season while scoring 55 goals and passing for 39 assists.

Beecroft was a 4-year starter at attack for Norfolk Academy. During that time the Bulldogs accrued 77 wins and just 11 losses. Beecroft is 3rd all time in scoring in Norfolk Academy lacrosse history with 303 points (175 goals, 128 assists).

The award is named after D.A. Taylor, a student-athlete at Norfolk Academy who died of meningitis during his junior year of high school in 1995. The foundation named after him awards scholarships to college students from Hampton Roads, Va.

The four man selection committee for the lacrosse award is comprised of two college coaches and two local high school/college referees. The committee chooses area student athletes from both club and varsity boys’ lacrosse teams.
